Visiopharm

Visiopharm is a privately owned Danish company located north of Copenhagen in the centre of Medicon Valley, which is one of the strongest bio-regions in Europe.

We are specializing in image analysis software for the life-sciences, including hardware integration, automation, and quality inspection. Visiopharm is providing a range of image analysis services and software solutions that enables and facilitates the extraction of knowledge from images through:

Automation of image measurements and quality inspection

Objective, quantitative, and reproducible image measurements

New image-markers of treatment effect, disease progression, toxicity and other processes of relevance to research advances

Image analysis is an interdisciplinary field drawing on computer science, mathematics, mathematical statistics, signal processing, numerical analysis, optimization and other disciplines.

Efficient development of robust and reliable research tools that make a real difference in practical applications requires a firm understanding of these disciplines.

For its development activities Visiopharm is only employing Masters- and PhD level developers with several years of theoretical and practical background in image analysis.

Founders
Michael Grunkin is founder and managing director of Visiopharm. He received his PhD in image analysis from the Technical University of Denmark in 1993. His post-doctoral work was carried out on Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School, where he combined a strong theoretical and practical background in image analysis with applications from the life-sciences. From 1996, he was the technical founder of two Danish companies developing advanced image analysis technology form diagnosing osteoporosis and various diseases manifesting themselves on the human retina. In 2001, he co-founded Visiopharm, which is focused on the development of general as well as application-specific image analysis solutions for the life-sciences.

Johan Doré is co-founder and CTO in Visiopharm. He received his Masters Degree in image analysis from the Technical University of Denmark in 1995. Until 1999, he developed high-speed industrial inspection systems though his own company, Imaging. One of his major achievements is a hardwood parquet sorting system, which is currently running on several production lines. In 1999, he entered the field of life-science image analysis, and was the driving force behind the development of algorithms for diagnosing diseases manifesting themselves on the human retina. In 2001, he co-founded Visiopharm.
